Blackbird Cultur-Lab Public Event

Blackbird Cultur-Lab, an experimental culture-farm set in Wexford, will host a free event on Saturday, April 9th, from 11 am to 1 pm. Everyone is welcome.

Address: Blackbird Cultur-Lab, Haresmead, Foulkesmills, Co. Wexford. Y35XW93

Visiting International and Irish artists Karl Logge, Sara Lundy, Lar O’Toole, Marta Romani, and Anne Vetter have been taking part in Leeward, our current residency curated by Karla Sánchez. During this residency, the artists have been analyzing prevalent and past attitudes, discourses, and the complexities of “the Rural” its ever-changing and conflicted relationships to urban categories and spaces, and the environment.

This event will be an opportunity for the public to start conversations with and get a glimpse of the practices of these artists, whose work ranges from textiles to photography, video, sculpture, and songs.

Leeward has been generously supported by the Arts Office of Wexford County Council.

About Blackbird Cultur-Lab

Blackbird Cultur-Lab is a creative cultural laboratory based within a working farm that is transitioning towards regenerative agriculture practices. It aims to provide an environment for farmers, artists, academics, and practitioners from various disciplines to experiment and work beyond traditional boundaries.

Blackbird Cultur-Lab is run by Oisín O’Connell and Karla Sánchez. Both have many years of experience of work in the arts, education, social sciences and agriculture. They are working to transition our farm from traditional methods to regenerative agriculture. They believe in the importance of developing and nurturing all the ecosystem processes; including community dynamics.

Artist Residencies at Cow House Studios

Cow House Studios have been running artists residencies since 2008. Leeward has been a collaborative effort between curator Karla Sánchez, Cow House Co-Directors Rosie O’Gorman and Frank Abruzzese and artists Karl Logge, Sara Lundy, Lar O’Toole, Marta Romani, and Anne Vetter. This program would not be possible without the support of the Arts Office of Wexford County Council. To learn more about our residency programming you can visit our artist residencies page.
